Samsung unveils Gauss2 AI model

Samsung’s Gauss2: Revolutionizing User Experience with AI

Samsung has unveiled Gauss2, its second-generation AI model designed to significantly enhance user experiences. Paul Kyungwhoon Cheun, President and CTO of the Device eXperience (DX) Division, expressed, “Samsung Electronics is committed to developing cutting-edge software, including AI and data analytics, to enhance user experiences.”

Gauss2: Multimodal AI for Diverse Needs

Building on the success of last year’s AI model, Gauss2 excels in handling language, code, and images. It is available in three variants:

  • Compact: Optimized for devices with limited computing resources.
  • Balanced: Offers a perfect mix of performance, speed, and efficiency.
  • Supreme: Uses Mixture of Experts (MoE) technology to maximize efficiency and minimize computational costs.

Supporting between nine and fourteen languages, Gauss2 also caters to a variety of programming languages. Samsung’s custom training techniques ensure peak efficiency, with response generation speeds 1.5 to 3 times faster than leading open-source alternatives.

Customizable and Productive

Gauss2 is highly customizable, making it ideal for specific applications. It enhances productivity tasks and has seen widespread adoption among Samsung developers. The enhanced coding assistant, code.i, is now used regularly by up to 60% of developers within the DX Division and international research teams.

Gauss Portal, another AI service powered by Gauss2, boosts productivity through features like document summarization and translation. Since August, call centers have benefited from AI-driven categorization and summarization.

Future Functionalities

Samsung plans to enhance internal productivity further by improving services such as code.i and the Gauss Portal’s natural language question-and-answer capabilities. Future functionalities will include multimodal operations like chart analysis and image creation.

AI for All

Samsung’s “AI for All” strategy aims to integrate AI services across its product lines, combining AI with knowledge graph technology for greater personalization. The recent SDC24 Korea conference highlighted this vision, showcasing advancements in healthcare, SmartThings, AI coding assistants, TV content innovations, and home appliances.

Conclusion

Samsung’s Gauss2 AI model is set to revolutionize user experiences by enhancing productivity, personalization, and efficiency. With its diverse applications and future-focused functionalities, Gauss2 exemplifies Samsung’s commitment to AI innovation.
